Microsoft quietly introduces upgrade to Office Mobile

Posted by: Giselle

News reports state that Wednesday, Microsoft upgraded its Office Mobile application, allowing users to work with documents created in Office 2007.

The application had issues that prevented users of Windows Mobile 6.0 to read documents created in Office 2007.
In addition, Windows Mobile users can now view and edit Word documents and Excel workbooks. Users can also view PowerPoint slideshows created in Office 2007 and extract files from .zip folders.

Now, users can conduct data analysis, edit word docs and practice presentations, while on-the-go
What will they think of next?

Existing Windows Mobile users who have office mobile can download the upgraded version free at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/software/officemobile.mspx
Prior to this upgrade, Windows Mobile users could read Office 2007 documents using third-party software tools, like the one from DataViz.

Seems like Microsoft just made life a little easier.
